Paranormal Books – Reading Targeted at the Unexplained

http://www.yallways.com

Paranormal phenomena have fascinated generations of researchers and prompted countless of authors to explore the unexplained. From the earliest compilations of anecdotes to modern treatises on the paranormal, there exists an almost endless array of literature related to this field of interest. The collection of texts related to paranormal phenomena continues to grow and earn new readership from those intrigued by the paranormal.

Most paranormal books fall into the non-fiction genre. Those seeking a general overview of the entire paranormal spectrum, several organizations have put together paranormal encyclopedias. Readers with a specific area of interest can also delve deeper into an area of the paranormal with more focused texts. For example, Cryptozoology A-Z is an encyclopedia devoted entirely to mysterious creatures around the world. Other paranormal books attempt to serve as “how-to” guides for experiencing some exceptional phenomena. For example, some authors claim they can teach a reader to harness psychic powers or communicate with the dead. There’s even a collection of guides dealing with ghost hunting using modern technology.

Among the numerous authors of these works, a few stand out for their historical contributions to paranormal books. Perhaps the first modern writer of note was Charles Fort, whose early twentieth century research focused on anecdotal data. Fort spent more than thirty years developing hypotheses regarding paranormal activities. These were eventually published in four books: The Book of the Damned, New Lands, Lo!, and Wild Talents. Each text deals with multiple topics within the realm of the paranormal and expresses Fort’s unique theories. Fort was followed by other noted authors who composed texts with a more specific focus. For example, in the mid-twentieth century Barnard Heuvelmans became an expert on cryptozoology and published more than a dozen works on the topic.

Today, several top authors continue to contribute paranormal books to our literary collection. Most writers choose a specific field of the paranormal for their publications. For example, noted author Dr. Robert Moody focuses on life after death and near-death experiences. His most recent work, Life After Life, has sold more than twelve million copies. Fictional authors have also gained praise from paranormal enthusiasts. Titles relating to alternate histories and future developments are especially popular, and authors like George Orwell, Isaac Asimov, and Arthur C. Clark have developed strong followings for their work in this genre. Despite successes, work in this area continues to be controversial. For example, famed UFO author Grant Cameron was recently barred from lecturing in the United States and has had difficulty gaining access to presidential archives. His research currently focuses on the White House’s involvement in UFO phenomena.

Paranormal books have become so popular that some publishers now focus entirely on this genre. For example, Paraview Pocket Books works with notable publisher Simon & Schuster to market non-fiction paranormal texts to the public. They also develop paranormal-related television and film productions. Similarly, the International Society for Paranormal Research works with authors to publish paranormal-themed books. In fact, their title ISPR Investigates the Ghosts of New Orleans recently became a best-seller in Europe.

Within the vast spectrum of paranormal books, there is sure to be something for every interest level. However, within this genre there is a fine line between fiction and non-fiction. Thankfully, more and more authors are publishing findings based on empirical research and credible anecdotes. Each year, hundreds of new paranormal books are published, and this number is likely to grow as readership interest increases.

Disproving Psychic Abilities

Frederick Gimino asked:

Psychics provide an opportunity to explore a mysterious world that lies just beyond our five senses. Opening a door to the supernatural realm of spirits and other worldly phenomenon psychics hold the key to the future that is yet to be.

Some skeptics say psychics do not exist but many experts disagree. Considering the expansive collection of unexplained phenomenon, in the world, it is hard to dispute the possibility of psychic powers.

We do know that we only use about 10% of our brains resources. So, what is the other 90 % for? It would stand to reason that it has some function. Right? So, is it not possible that somewhere, in that untapped potential, resides a sixth sense?

A sense that allowed us to survive a much darker time when man was forced to compete with oversized predators and elusive prey. Only armed with the power of the human mind, steely wits, and an opposable thumb mankind was already a formidable adversary. However, the addition of keener senses or an additional sixth sense would have made humanity unstoppable.

The ability to sense, that which lies beyond our five senses, would have been an invaluable tool to early man. It may have allowed the survival of the human species, as we know it today. However, as time went on and living conditions became easier with the domestication of animals, honing of learned skills, and the ability to form agrarian societies these abilities may have atrophied.

Our psychic abilities may have atrophied to the point that they became anatomically and physiologically vestigial in nature. The genetic combination responsible for the psychic trait may now rarely appear except aberrantly, in a chosen few, whose genotype allows phenotypical expression of the dormant trait or traits responsible for psychic abilities.

Just because we do not understand something fully does not mean it does not exist. The possibility of psychic ability, in our mysterious universe, is still a plausible explanation for many unexplained phenomenon.

Even with all of the advancements over the last 100 years there is still much debate and speculation, in the scientific community, about a plethora of topics. From the big bang to evolution scientists agree to disagree.

It stands to reason according to the scientific method that until all the explanations, hypothesis, and theories regarding psychic abilities are disproved that it must be considered as a viable alternative explanation to recognized unexplained paranormal phenomenon such as deja vu, precognition, and clairvoyance.

Some scientists studying psychic phenomenon, in children, utilizing the Zener card test regularly encounter statistically significant data that suggests more than chance outcomes at work. In fact many children regularly defy the odds by scoring 30%, 40%, 50%, and 60 % accuracy on a test with a statistical mean of 20% by chance. If that were a drug trial being run and that was the incidence of death for participants the FDA would certainly consider that significant. Right?

In addition to genetic factors that may predispose children to exhibit psychic abilities human development may hold some clues as to the reason children seem to possess a higher degree of psychic ability than adults. Human development occurs in stages each with its own marked physiological characteristics. During childhood it should come as no surprise to find out that we have the highest number of synaptic pathways that we ever have during the course of our lives. Do these extra connections provide a medium to the psychic realm? Is our brain wired towards the paranormal at earlier stages of human development due to anatomical and physiological processes that are occurring during the first several years of our lives?

Furthermore, according to Comparative Embryology during the first 6 weeks of human development, in our mother’s womb, we go through an evolution of sorts. In fact up until the time we differentiate we remain almost morphologically indistinguishable from lower life forms, in the same phase of development. From a single cell to pharyngeal gill slits to lanugo (body hair in utero) to human morphology we comparatively exhibit similar traits to our animal ancestors.

Is it possible that this comparative morphology extends past the physical development of the human body and into our development outside the womb? Maybe, our cognitive development goes through an “evolution” of sorts were the anatomy and physiology of our minds comparatively resembles our ancient psychic ability possessing human ancestors.

So, the question becomes can we disprove all plausible explanations, hypothesis, and theories regarding psychic ability. Not can we prove psychic ability exists. In addition many skeptics spend their entire lives trying to prove that psychic abilities do not exist rather than trying to disprove their own explanations, hypothesis, and theories about its non-existence. This type of objective scientific inquiry is tainted with bias and must not be considered credible.

Only when all the possible plausible explanations, hypothesis, and theories have been tested subjectively using the scientific method and disproved can any true scientist or skeptic state with 95% confidence that psychics and human psychic abilities do not exist.

Extra Sensory Projection (ESP) is defined as the ability to acquire information by paranormal means independent from any known physical senses or deduction from previous experiences. It is sometimes referred to as the “Sixth Sense”.

ESP is a broad term and can relate to Many Paranormal Abilities. Some of which are Clairvoyancy, Remote Viewing, Mediumship, Psychic Powers, channeling, and more. ESP is widely accepted as fact. Police, Detectives, and Government Agencies world wide have utilized services of “Psychics” to solve crimes.

Memory Functions Dramatically Improved

Memory is a function that depends directly on the brain. Long term memory and short term memory both are dependent on the brain’s state when absorbing knowledge. Other factors can include brain blockages, the inability to focus, and a lack of attention span.

All of the factors mentioned above can be influenced and changed by altering the frequencies of the brain. The vibrations of the brain are responsible for how the brain absorbs and stores data. When the brain is in the correct state, information can and will be stored properly and efficiently. The drug companies offer many drugs and medications that are meant to alter the brain’s functions, but too many of these drugs are found to be extremely dangerous, and many side effects have been noticed.

http://scrnch.me/lcacb

The good news is, there is a way to safely and effectively alter your brains learning and memory abilities without the use of drugs or medications. Direct sound waves can be used to adjust the brain’s operating frequencies to promote healthy and efficient memory enhancement.

How Does It Work?

Sine wave generators were used to create two separate frequency waves which were introduced to each ear independently. The brain reacted by creating a third tone which  was the difference between the two. This allowed the brain to directly tune into a frequency that the ear can not hear!

When your brain is in the Theta State, your conscious blockages disperse. Theta is purely a subconscious state of mind, and tapping into it yields great results. You will be able to clear your mind and allow your deep subconscious mind to recall events, feelings, and situations that the conscious mind has blocked out.

We have two binaural Beats designed to help you enhance your memory. The first one focuses on long term memory, and the other stimulates both short term and long term memory. You will feel the results both mentally and physically upon first use. Fully Guaranteed!

That has brought in apparently everything that everybody wants including usual genre thrills, fresh twists and a lightning-fast pace. There’s also present an increasingly economic use of exposition that keeps you on the qui vive. Despite the gaping holes in the plot that do not reveal initially, you’ll like it, for you understand it’s difficult keeping up with all the intricacies in the narrative.

But Push also has its moments. Beyond the characters blessed or cursed with extrasensory abilities, Push rewards the patience with some highly bona fide and inventive plotting that weaves around Nick (a Mover or possessor of telekinetic powers), his father’s murderers The Division and his self-exiled life in Hong Kong (now a gritty melting pot of dusty tenements, ramshackle markets and incomplete skyscrapers) where Cassie (a Watcher i.e. clairvoyant) brings up Nick’s trouble and leads him towards his destiny. But now comes the difference: Nick, the protagonist is not a messiah in spite of all his powers. He knows using them but not very proficiently. That makes him solve problems by moving objects rather than by devising perplexing, diabolic acts or plans.

Religion Versus Paranormal Beliefs

September 3, 2009 by admin

Janine Cruzet asked:

There is no exact connection between religion and paranormal beliefs . There are people who are religious but don’t believe in things like Bigfoot or UFOs while others believe in many paranormal events but who are not part of any religious tradition. Then, one does not anything to do with the other.

Those people who show obedience to religious traditions may often be eager to renounce any correspondence since paranormal beliefs are often portrayed as less sane and reliable than religious beliefs. In some cases, conservative and other religious believer often regard paranormal beliefs as evil actions of evil forces in the universe and not the sort of thing they would like to believe.

On the other hand, religious and paranormal beliefs share lots of important things in common. Both paranormal and traditional religions are in the same nature which they are not considered as part of the world as a place controlled by sequences of cause and effect between matter and energy. Instead, they believe that the added presence of immaterial forces influences or controls the path of our lives.

By paranormal beliefs, we tend to search for our desire to find logical meaning to some chaotic events that come our way. If we are suddenly aware of a distant event we shouldn’t neglect, it might be credited to psychic powers, clairvoyance, spirits, angels, or God. There seems to be a real scale between what we tend to call “paranormal” and the ideas in many religious faiths

Paranormal beliefs are more than superstitions and religious beliefs. Since paranormal beliefs are commonly part of an integrated beliefs system about the very nature and substance of the universe whereas superstitions are often isolated ideas at times related to cultural traditions irreligious beliefs. The paranormal beliefs which are integrated to belief system are very similar to religion .they can provide meaning to our lives as well as the events in our lives. They can also provide social structure, and give comfort in difficult times.

However, paranormal beliefs system lacks some of the critical characteristics of religions. They don’t typically engage ritual acts, because it’s unusual for them to make a distinction between the sacred and the sacrilegious. It is also rare for people to base a moral code upon those beliefs. Even though paranormal beliefs means that they are not the same as religion, the strong similarities do suggest that they stem from some of the same needs and desires as religious beliefs.

Research shows that religion and paranormal beliefs are separated phenomena. There are some studies that try to correlate religion to paranormal beliefs but there have been varied results. For an instance, one study concluded that there is a strong chance that belief in the paranormal is a substitute for religious beliefs, and that both religious belief and paranormal belief serve to lower death anxiety. However, some researchers found that paranormal belief was commonly not associated to religiosity. There were some events and specific beliefs such as E.S.P and Astrology had a minor opposite relationship with religiosity, which the study concluded that belief in the paranormal may substitute for traditional religious beliefs.

On the opposite side of the scale, some studies completed in Canada, found that people who chose “none” as their religious preference were not any more likely to believe in the paranormal than participants who had a religious preference (in this study, only the data from those participants who chose “other religion organization ,” like “Protestant,” or “Catholic” were utilized. Study also found that there was a considerable positive relationship between religious beliefs, which were measured by a 6-question scale asking how much, if any, the participant believed in God, angels and others.

Paranormal beliefs, which were also measured by a separate 6-item scale, asking how much participants believed in ESP, astrology, found that participants who stated that they attend church regularly were slightly less likely to have paranormal beliefs. Constant held of religious belief gives an impression of more significant negative correlations between church attendance and paranormal beliefs.

So, in this case, finding the relationship of religion and paranormal beliefs were an endless journey. But as long as you have faith in the Supreme Being it will not alter the truth that every individual seek for some meaning in their lives regardless if it is under the religious beliefs or paranormal beliefs. Somehow and the other way around religion and paranormal beliefs will meet halfway. They have their own distinct characteristic far different from each other.

Love Spells for Sceptics

Kate Pusey asked:

Is there such thing as Paranormal Power?

In our society today it’s easy to laugh at those who believe in the powers of the paranormal or the occult, in magic, psychic or new age remedies. But for millions of people worldwide life can be a very demanding journey and so they may choose to seek relief or guidance by turning to paranormal power.

Does Faith Work?

Mainstream religions accept the power of prayer as a way to receive blessings, perhaps in the form of a physical cure for a disease or to provide emotional guidance. Medical professionals now recognize that an individual’s faith and beliefs can play a major role in improving quality of life and health and bring about a faster recovery from trauma or surgery.

For many thousands of years, people have relied on their faith in spiritual or mystical powers to achieve really remarkable things. In times before modern medicine most health issues were traditionally handled by using astrology, witchcraft, or psychic powers. Of course, that was before the option of going to the doctors and getting a prescription. Today we take for granted what we can achieve through modern science, and perhaps this stops us accepting or exploring other areas that require belief and faith.

Love Spells

So how can a love spell performed by a psychic attract a partner for a lonely person looking for love? Those who believe in psychic powers and the paranormal world think that there is a spiritual or metaphysical helping hand involved.

There has always been a bit of embarrassment regarding visiting a fortune teller or psychic, and this prevents some people accepting their value in our society. However, there are more people than you think who use love spells on a regular basis, sometimes to bring improvements to a poor relationship or help find new love. They will tell you that these spells work for them and their lives have been enriched.

A great opportunity for everyone was the opening up of the internet which has enabled thousands of people to access good psychics and clairvoyants from across the world to help with their relationship issues by getting a good psychic reading.

Believers will tell you that those who refuse to open their minds to the possibilities of love spells and other spiritual solutions will never know what they are missing.

Why limit your mind to just the visible things in our physical world? What about for example electricity – we can’t see or touch it but we know its there through its effects. Maybe we all need to broaden our horizons and have a look at some alternative help once in a while.

Examining Psychic Powers in Science: The Power of the Paranormal in the Lab

Ian Hollander asked:

In this article we are going to take a quick look at the marriage of science and psi, or the process of studying psychic phenomenon under the microscope of serious intellectual inquiry, rather than for entertainment value alone. For most of us, psychic phenomena simply serves a side dish of silly, fun and a daily diversion from the seriousness of our own lives. Many people read their daily horoscopes in the newspaper, others visit sidewalk soothsayers in the hope of simply getting a little window of possibility into the wild and wooly world of the unknown and mysterious.

For a small select group of scientists and parapsychologists, this serious inquiry surpasses that of the occasional lighthearted look, and instead has become the focus of their lives work, their PASSION, their purpose and their primary field of study.

As someone who has had a lifelong passion for the unknown, a fascination with mystical and mysterious, I have often found it absolutely incredible that so many of the great discoveries and advancements in PSI research have gone reasonably un noticed by the greater population. At their core, each and EVERY paradigm shattering possibility that is passed represents another notch in our collective belt of potentials as people, both individually and as a whole.

When science can show through rigorous examination that there appears to be a significant mind to mind connection between people, I find that VERY exciting!

When the US government declassifies year’s worth of tests and reports on the authenticity of remote viewing experiments, I find it equally as inspiring. When an internationally renowned team of physicians speak on the similarity of Near Death Experiences being reported in emergency and trauma wards throughout the world, this is powerful stuff!

When world class and respected authors, doctors, researchers and writers who dedicate huge chunks of their daily lives to the diligent study of the same, uniformly come to believe that there is FAR more to our ordinary reality than that which our modern materialistic model of the universe would have us to believe, I find this powerful beyond all measure.

So the next time you think that psychic phenomena are only relegated to that woman in the mall with the tacky neon sign on the porch, or the anonymous astrologer in the newspaper who promises that your planets are properly positioned for a great week, think again, look deeper and join those on the tipping point of the new intersection between science and spirit. If you are like me, you’ll be happy you did!

Psychic Self-Defense Explained – How To Use Magick And Runes

May 30, 2009 by admin

Abhishek Agarwal asked:

For understanding the ways to strengthen a person’s aura, the nature of psychic attack and magick must be understood.

The pagan art that uses will to cause changes is called magick. The idea wizardry, according to popular literature, is the ability that enables a person to use tolls of magick like rituals and symbols that oppose laws like chemistry and physics. Even though it is an art that is related to magic as in what is used by magicians and conjurers that deceives the eye, it is not same. Magick is the cause for many phenomena like ESP, astral projections and psychic healing, which are weird and cannot be explained. Magick is either white or black; the former causes the happening of something good, while the latter causes the happening of something bad.

Psychic powers that are considered as hogwash by scientists, only because science cannot explain it is considered a paranormal phenomenon and is largely avoided by the scientists. There are many who say that they have developed powers like these by tapping into energy fields of the astral world that have not yet been identified or quantified by modern science. These powers include psychic mediums, healers, detectives and also fortune tellers. Like in tapping into any other form of energy, tapping into astral energy also has to be paid a price.

For people who are familiar with the so called Inner Planes’ working, it is known that the psychic effects caused are sent through the subconscious mind for taking effect. Hence, occurrence of psychic attacks will be present if the individual’s mind is tuned to negative effects of psychic activity. It also occurs if the mind is open to the attack of the astral world’s malicious elements. This can cause very bad effects and if these attacks are not warded off by psychic self defense, the consequences can be even worse.

Psychic self defense can be developed by increasing the strength of the aura as the psychic abilities focus mainly on the mind of an individual. The aura of a person is centered similarly and manifests a glow that encompasses the being of a person and is considered as the reflection of the spiritual state of a person. For strengthening his or her aura, a person must do visualization.

One of the exercises that are suggested is to conjure a threefold white fire flame within the heart that expands and engulfs the body of the conjurer in a globe. No negative thought or imperfections are allowed as it is luminance that is pure and attracts positive forces to itself and thereby the aura and strengthens it. It is a type of magick and is called as warding, while doing which, a sphere of protection or a globe of protection is conjured. People also suggest tapping into earth’s blue or white magick so that the energy expended by one’s self is less and helps in making a powerful sphere.

The other ways of increasing psychic self defense is usage of runes which are symbols or signs that have uses that are specific. For protection of a person or an object, the Elk rune, known also as the Algiz or Elhaz is used and it wards of negative thoughts and increases peace of mind. A person who has a peaceful mind will have a strong aura as auras reflect the well being of one’s minds. For those who aren’t initiated, aura and psychic self defense will sound like blather. However, we must admit that not everything can be explained even today. For people who are trained to know about paranormality, psychic elements can affect and influence their well-being. It is for their own well being that they should protect themselves. Even for people who are skeptical about this, positive thinking and strengthening of aura look like it is indeed a reasonable proposition.
